The T&T men's 4x50m freestyle re­lay quar­tet of David Richard Knag­gs, An­ton Gopauls­ingh, Cur­tis Harp­er, and Patrick Lee Loy earned a bronze medal when the 2019 FI­NA World Mas­ters Cham­pi­onship con­tin­ued at the Nam­bu Uni­ver­si­ty, in Gwangju, Ko­rea on Fri­day.

Com­pet­ing in the 200-239 cat­e­go­ry, Knag­gs (29.93 sec­onds), Lee Loy (29.53), Harp­er (26.69), and Gopauls­ingh (25.25) com­bined for a time of one minute, 51.40 sec­onds for third in the 15-team fi­nal.

South Africa's Cape Town MSC won gold in 1:42.23 while Brazil's Gus­ta­vo Borges Cu­riti­ba took sil­ver in 1:44.98.

In the 4x50 men's med­ley re­lay (240-279), Lee Loy (36.99), Adri­an Mur­phy (42.08), Knag­gs (32.58), and Mervyn Camp­bell (57.29) com­bined for ninth spot in 2:48.94.

Over­all, T&T has a con­tin­gent of sev­en swim­mers par­tic­i­pat­ing in the cham­pi­onships which con­clude on Sun­day.

On Mon­day last, com­pet­ing in the men's 800m freestyle 55-59 age-group, Lee Loy placed 13th from a field of 23 starters in 11.27.00 min­utes, and a day lat­er, in the 200m back­stroke, Lee Loy was 14th best in 3:15.75 min­utes,

T&T's Mervyn Camp­bell did not com­plete his 80-84 men's 100m freestyle splash, while Knag­gs was ninth in the 65-69 cat­e­go­ry in 1:10.11; Gopauls­ingh placed 29th in the 40-44 di­vi­sion in 1:00.50, and Harp­er, 32nd in 1:02.67

Wednes­day, saw a num­ber of the T&T swim­mers back in ac­tion, with Danielle Co­zi­er, end­ing sev­enth in the women's 50m but­ter­fly, 50-54 age-group in 33.91 sec­onds while Knag­gs was eighth in the men's 65-69 com­pe­ti­tion in 32.83; Lee Loy, 18th in the 55-59 di­vi­sion, in 32.62; Gopauls­ingh touched the wall in the 40-44 cat­e­go­ry in 27th spot in 28.84, and Harp­er, 55th in 32.40.

On Thurs­day, Camp­bell was sev­enth in the men's 50m freestyle in 59.96; Knag­gs was ninth in 30.12 in the 65-69 com­pe­ti­tion; in the 45-49 di­vi­sion, Mur­phy was 24th with a time of 29.38; and Gopauls­ingh, fin­ished 16th in the 40-44 age-group in 26.02, with Harp­er, 27th in 27 sec­onds.

Among the women, Co­zi­er was 14th in the 50-54 cat­e­go­ry af­ter she touched the wall in 31.50.

And in the 100m but­ter­fly Knag­gs was sixth in 65-69 cat­e­go­ry in 1:18.91, Lee Loy 11th in the 55-59 com­pe­ti­tion in 1:17.56, while in the women's equiv­a­lent, Co­zi­er(50-54) placed sixth in 1:24.12.

On Sat­ur­day, Gopauls­ingh will be the lone T&T com­peti­tor in ac­tion when he lines up in the 100m back­stroke (40-44) while on Sun­day, the fi­nal day of com­pe­ti­tion, Mur­phy (45-49), and Gopauls­ingh (40-44) com­pete in the 50m back­stroke, while Co­zi­er lines up in the 50m back­stroke, and Mur­phy in the 50m breast­stroke.
