The T&T men’s Un­der-19 Rug­by 15s team com­plet­ed an un­beat­en tour of St Lu­cia as they won all three match­es in the in­au­gur­al Tri-Union Rug­gera­ma Se­ries at the Grand Riv­iere Play­ing Field in Cas­tries on Fri­day (April 10).

The tour marked the start of their piv­otal prepa­ra­tions for the 2026 Rug­by Amer­i­c­as North (RAN) Un­der-19 Men’s 15s Tour­na­ment, which is card­ed for Mex­i­co in Au­gust.

In their tour­na­ment on Fri­day, the Jasani Daniel-led T&T rug­ger­men steam­rolled St Lu­cia Un­der-20s 20-5, with Joshua Bac­chus scor­ing two tries and An­tho­ny Sabazon and Jabari Her­bert adding one try each.

Daniel al­so chipped in with a penal­ty con­ver­sion and two con­ver­sions.

The sec­ond out­ing on the night pro­duced a more dom­i­nant dis­play from the T&T boys as they ran out 26-0 win­ners against St Lu­cia’s se­nior men’s team, with Daniel scor­ing a try and three con­ver­sions while Je­re­mi­ah Moore, Skyler Hope Gue­vara and

Michael Mitchell scored one try each.

And against Turks and Caicos, the T&T boys with­stood a spir­it­ed bat­tled from their op­po­nents but still came away with a nar­row 7-5 win led by Morre’s try and the con­ver­sion by Daniel.

Ac­cord­ing to the T&T Rug­by Foot­ball Union (T&TR­FU), the tour­na­ment in St Lu­cia rep­re­sent­ed a sig­nif­i­cant mile­stone for the T&T men’s Un­der 19 na­tion­al pro­gramme, as it was the first time the team had par­tic­i­pat­ed in a warm-up tour­na­ment of this na­ture.

Ac­cord­ing to the re­lease from the T&T Rug­by Foot­ball Union, this ex­pe­ri­ence pro­vides a valu­able bench­mark, of­fer­ing in­sight in­to the team’s cur­rent lev­el of per­for­mance and readi­ness at this stage of prepa­ra­tion.

The pri­ma­ry fo­cus of the tour is the ex­e­cu­tion of the team’s struc­tured train­ing plan and es­tab­lished style of play.

Ad­di­tion­al­ly, it served as a crit­i­cal op­por­tu­ni­ty to iden­ti­fy ar­eas of weak­ness and ad­dress them proac­tive­ly ahead of re­gion­al com­pe­ti­tion.

The tech­ni­cal staff an­tic­i­pates that the in­sights gained will in­form tar­get­ed re­fine­ments and strate­gic ad­just­ments to op­ti­mise over­all per­for­mance.

The ini­tia­tive has been large­ly self-fund­ed by the ath­letes, demon­strat­ing a strong com­mit­ment to the pro­gramme. The team has al­so ben­e­fit­ed from gen­er­ous con­tri­bu­tions from mem­bers of the wider fra­ter­ni­ty.

While no of­fi­cial spon­sor­ship has been se­cured to date, the or­gan­i­sa­tion wel­comes prospec­tive part­ners in­ter­est­ed in sup­port­ing the team’s jour­ney to the RAN 15s in Au­gust 2026 in Mex­i­co.
