The T&T men’s Under-19 Rugby 15s team completed an unbeaten tour of St Lucia as they won all three matches in the inaugural Tri-Union Ruggerama Series at the Grand Riviere Playing Field in Castries on Friday (April 10).
The tour marked the start of their pivotal preparations for the 2026 Rugby Americas North (RAN) Under-19 Men’s 15s Tournament, which is carded for Mexico in August.
In their tournament on Friday, the Jasani Daniel-led T&T ruggermen steamrolled St Lucia Under-20s 20-5, with Joshua Bacchus scoring two tries and Anthony Sabazon and Jabari Herbert adding one try each.
Daniel also chipped in with a penalty conversion and two conversions.
The second outing on the night produced a more dominant display from the T&T boys as they ran out 26-0 winners against St Lucia’s senior men’s team, with Daniel scoring a try and three conversions while Jeremiah Moore, Skyler Hope Guevara and
Michael Mitchell scored one try each.
And against Turks and Caicos, the T&T boys withstood a spirited battled from their opponents but still came away with a narrow 7-5 win led by Morre’s try and the conversion by Daniel.
According to the T&T Rugby Football Union (T&TRFU), the tournament in St Lucia represented a significant milestone for the T&T men’s Under 19 national programme, as it was the first time the team had participated in a warm-up tournament of this nature.
According to the release from the T&T Rugby Football Union, this experience provides a valuable benchmark, offering insight into the team’s current level of performance and readiness at this stage of preparation.
The primary focus of the tour is the execution of the team’s structured training plan and established style of play.
Additionally, it served as a critical opportunity to identify areas of weakness and address them proactively ahead of regional competition.
The technical staff anticipates that the insights gained will inform targeted refinements and strategic adjustments to optimise overall performance.
The initiative has been largely self-funded by the athletes, demonstrating a strong commitment to the programme. The team has also benefited from generous contributions from members of the wider fraternity.
While no official sponsorship has been secured to date, the organisation welcomes prospective partners interested in supporting the team’s journey to the RAN 15s in August 2026 in Mexico.
