Trinidad and Tobago’s women golfers copped the top spot in the Ladies 45 plus division at the 2023 Caribbean Four Ball Golf Championships at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Course at the Royal Blue Golf Club in Nassau, Bahamas.
The local pair of Ingrid Seebaran and Violet Roopchand ended the three-day competition on Thursday with a score of 253 after shooting 82 on the final day of play. The duo led from the opening day with 84 and continued to lead with 87 in the second round. Roopchand, a veteran national player along with Seebaran won the lone title (Dessle Henry Trophy) for the national team.
The Ladies had 25 plus players and the Men Senior team finished in second spot.
In the Ladies 25 plus category Arianne McKenzie and Christian Ferreira combined to hit 237 (85, 78, 74) to finish second behind Jamaica and ahead of Bahamas.
Wayne Baptiste, the President of the Trinidad and Tobago Association, and Richard Camacho narrowly missed on bringing home the Seniors Class. Baptiste and Camacho posted 209 (71, 71, 67) However, Jamaica, with 66, 68, 71, amassed 205 to win the Francis Steele Perkins trophy.
T&T golfers also secured the third spot among the Mid-Amateurs as Sheriss Rampersad and Kevesh Ramnath hit 215 (74, 70, 71). Hosts Bahamas landed the Ramon Baez Romano trophy with a score of 208 (70, 70, 68) with Jamaica in second at 210 (71, 70, 69).
National captains Stephen Hale and Douglas Ammon finished in eighth in the Super Seniors after registering 233 (77, 77, 79). The Bahamians prevailed with 215 (70, 72, 73) with Jamaica A in second at 220 (70, 73, 77). Cayman Islands A 221 (75, 73, 73) and Barbados 221 (74, 7,3, 74) ended in joint third.
The victorious national ladies were set to return home last evening.
