The overseas-based national volleyball trio of Sinead Kisal-Jack, Channon Thompson and Marc-Anthony Honore were all in winners’ row with their respective professional clubs on Saturday.
Asia-based middle-blocker Kisal-Jack, who celebrated her 26th birthday on Friday, and her Denso Airybees made it five wins from as many matches in the Japan Women’s Volleyball Premier Conference after beating Himeji Victorina VC 25-15, 25-15, 25-20.
With the 5-0 record, Denso Airybees moved to 15 points, three ahead of NEC Rockets (4-1), while Hisamitsi (3-3) and Hitachi Rivale (3-4) occupy the two other playoff spots with nine and eight points respectively on the six-team table.
In Germany, outside spiker Thompson and defending 1st Bundesliga Women Volleyball champions Allianz MTV Stuttgart also stayed unbeaten courtesy a 25-20, 25-22, 25-17 against SC Potsdam to move to a 5-0 mark and 15 points, five ahead of LB Aachen (4-0), while Stuttgart, Schweriner and Potsdam are next with 3-1 records and nine and eight points respectively on the 11-club standings.
Middle-blocker Honore also helped fire SL Benfica past AA Sao Mamede 25-17, 25-15, 21-25, 25-17 to push their record to 6-0 at the top of the Portugal Honda A1 Division with 18 points, three clear of Sporting CP (5-0), while Sao Mamede stayed third with a 4-2 record and 13 points on the 14-club table.
In France, Canada-born T&T player Taija Thomas’ Municipal Olympique De Mougins went under to unbeaten leaders ASPTT Mulhouse 18-25, 12-25, 25-22, 24-26 to fall to a 1-6 record and 13th on the Ligue A Women’s 14-team table.
