Tahi­ra Beep­at scored five goals to lead T&T 19 and Un­der girls to an em­phat­ic 15-4 de­feat of host Bar­ba­dos and with it, the first gold medal at stake in the 2019 Carif­ta Wa­ter Po­lo Cham­pi­onship at the Na­tion­al Aquat­ic Cen­tre, Wildey, St Michael, Bar­ba­dos, yes­ter­day.

With on­ly two teams in the di­vi­sion, the T&T girls took a bold step to­wards the gold medal when they won Fri­day’s open­er 14-3 be­fore they re­turned to the same venue for the 15-4 win and top spot.

To­day, the oth­er three teams from T&T teams will al­so be com­pet­ing for gold medals in their round-robin groups.

In the Un­der-14 Co-Ed cat­e­go­ry, T&T crushed Cu­ra­cao 22-2 led by five goals each from Nathan Hinds and Josh Fuller to im­prove to 3-0 af­ter sweep­ing past Bar­ba­dos 12-3 and Ba­hamas, 12-6 on Fri­day.

T&T then made cer­tain of a place in the fi­nal of the Un­der-14 Co-Ed by ham­mer­ing Bonaire 23-0.

The Un­der-16 Boys im­proved to 2-1 by pun­ish­ing Cu­ra­cao as well, 17-1 in­spired by hat-tricks from Chris­t­ian Chin Lee and Ben­jamin Chow Quan.

On Fri­day, the Un­der-16 boys whipped Bar­ba­dos 16-7 but fell to Ba­hamas, 7-11.

And in the 19 and Un­der Boys, T&T clob­bered Bonaire (18-8) to add to Fri­day’s vic­to­ries against the Ba­hamas (18-4), and Bar­ba­dos (19-14) for a per­fect round-robin record of 3-0 ahead of to­day’s fi­nals.
