Por­tious War­ren earned valu­able rank­ing points when she was sixth in the women's shot put at the New York Grand Prix at the Ic­ahn Sta­di­um, in the Unit­ed States on Sun­day (June 9).

War­ren record­ed a throw of 18.16 me­tres in the sec­ond round of the com­pe­ti­tion im­prov­ing on her 17.59 open­ing ef­fort. The 2019 World Uni­ver­si­ty Games sil­ver medal­list reg­is­tered her best throw for this sea­son, get­ting over the 18m bar­ri­er for the first time this year. The To­co res­i­dent is in pur­suit of the Paris Olympics women's shot put qual­i­fi­ca­tion stan­dard of 18.80.

She fin­ished be­hind Cana­da's reign­ing World In­door cham­pi­on Sarah Mit­ton (20.15), Tokyo Olympics sil­ver medal­list Raven Saun­ders of the USA (19.1) and three oth­er Amer­i­cans Jes­si­ca Ram­sey (18.83), Jes­si­ca Woodard (18.39) and Ade­laide Aquila (18.33), re­spec­tive­ly. Mit­ton, Saun­ders and Ram­sey sur­passed the Olympic stan­dard.

De­spite miss­ing the mark, War­ren re­mains in con­tention for a spot at the Ju­ly 26 to Au­gust 11 Olympics Games in France as she is cur­rent­ly ranked at 30th on the qual­i­fi­ca­tion list. At the qual­i­fy­ing dead­line date of June 30, ath­letes who do not achieve the stan­dard will be in­vit­ed, based on their world rank­ings, to com­plete the field of 32 com­peti­tors.

War­ren qual­i­fied for the virus-de­layed 2020 Tokyo Olympics in 2021 via the World rank­ing route.

Mean­while, Fred­er­ick's twins, Sole and Sanaa, got un­der the women's 100m and 200m stan­dards for the World Un­der-20 Track and Field Cham­pi­onships yet again.

Com­pet­ing in the women's 100m at the Last Chance Qual­i­fi­er in Ma­ri­et­ta, Geor­gia Sun­day, the sis­ters clocked per­son­al best times in the 100m pre­lim­i­nar­ies as Sanaa crossed the line in 11.38 sec­onds in the fin­ish­ing fourth-fastest while Sole re­turned a time of 11.44, the sixth best.

In the fi­nal, Sole (11.40) was fifth and Sanaa (11.56) sixth. The duo got un­der the World U-20 Cham­pi­onships stan­dard of 11.78 for the sec­ond time this month as Sanaa and Sole ran 11.41 and 11.50, re­spec­tive­ly, at the Ed­win Moses Leg­ends Meet in At­lanta on May 31.

The sprint­ing sib­lings were not done in Geor­gia as in the 200m, they went un­der the World U-20 women's 200m qual­i­fy­ing time of 24.35 as Sole stopped the clock in a per­son­al best time of 23.32 and Sanaa 23.84, to end in third and fifth po­si­tions, re­spec­tive­ly. The pair went un­der the 24.35 bar­ri­er in the girls' U-20 200m semi­fi­nal round at this year's Carif­ta Games on March 31.
