Lead scor­er, Ty War­wick guid­ed Holy Name Con­vent (HNC) to their sec­ond vic­to­ry de­feat­ing East Mu­cu­rapo Sec­ondary School (EMSS) 19-11 as ac­tion con­tin­ued yes­ter­day in the Un­der-15 di­vi­sion of the T&T Sec­ondary Schools’ Bas­ket­ball As­so­ci­a­tion North Zone League at the Nel­son Man­dela Park, St Clair, Port-of-Spain.

War­wick's Ca­lyp­so Ay­oung came out of the gate scor­ing the team’s first two bas­kets, help­ing to es­tab­lish an ear­ly 7-2 lead in the first half of play. In the sec­ond half, EMSS was more ag­gres­sive on the de­fen­sive end, bring­ing the team with­in a three-point deficit.

With a shift in their de­fen­sive strat­e­gy and a late of­fen­sive push by War­wick, HNC dom­i­nat­ed the fi­nal min­utes of the match, fin­ish­ing with a com­fort­able eight-point lead at the end of reg­u­la­tion.

For EMSS, Nico­la Gill top scored with four and her team­mate Tami­ka Dann net­ted three.

In last week’s en­counter ver­sus Mu­cu­rapo West Sec­ondary School, War­wick topped off with a sea­son-high 22 points while Ay­oung chipped in with eight points to give HNC its first vic­to­ry of the tour­na­ment, de­feat­ing its op­po­nent 35-19.

Ac­tion in the league con­tin­ues on Mon­day at the Nel­son Man­dela Park as Queen’s Roy­al Col­lege’s U-15 and U-17 teams come up against Wood­brook Sec­ondary School and Mu­cu­rapo West at 3 pm and 4.15 pm re­spec­tive­ly.

In the Boys' U-15 Di­vi­sion match sched­uled, Suc­cess Laven­tille Sec­ondary won af­ter EMSS for­feit­ed.
