The trio of top-ranked players Cameron Wong, Akiel Duke, and Richard Mc Letchie all lived up to their ranking by claiming their respective divisional singles titles in the Duke Tennis Academy (DTA) Tennis Tournament at the Guaracara Tennis Club in Pointe-a-Pierre, on Sunday.

In the Women’s Open final, national Under-21 and U-18 champion Wong came from a set down to beat defending champion Farrah Chautilal 2-6, 6-2 (10-7).

Tournament organiser, Duke, the reigning East Zone Classified champion was also taken the distance by 14-year-old Kale Dalla Costa before he emerged victorious 6-7 (3), 7-5, (10-5) to win the men's crown.

And in the Veterans Division, Mc Letchie had an easy time as he brushed aside the challenge of Neil Lingo, 6-0, 6-1.

Duke was denied a chance of two titles on the day as his doubles partner Nabeel Mohammed was a no-show for the top-ranked pair’s match-up with national coach Dunstan Denoon and Kino Francis in the men’s doubles decider.

Wong ended the day with two titles after she paired with Andrae Crawford to capture the Mixed Doubles title beating Dexter Mahase and Naomi Mohammed in a tense encounter, 2-6, 6-3, 11-9.

Earlier in the morning, Wong and Crawford were awarded a default win over Nabeel Mohammed, and Lilly Mohammed while Dexter Mahase, and Naomi Mohammed overcame Mc Letchie and Catherine Campbell in the two semifinals.
