Jump suits, scattered pleated skirts in lengths long and short and a flood of high waist pants. That's the latest fashion forcast according to Marty Lovell.A fashion buyer and owner of Carnaby Street clothing store, Lovell is also seeing a heavy cloud cover of bold colours and prints. And, much like that 80's trend , the evidence of which most of us still have on Polaroids, you can get away with matching oddly paired bold colours (think blue and red, purple and green).Prints ranging from tribal to tropical and floral are amped with glam accessories. On your feet try flatforms, espadrills/wedge heels or heavily embellished flats. And if you're having a good or bad hair day it matters not; just toss on a straw hat. Lovell swears that trendy trilbies and wide-brimmed beach type hats are all the rage. She added that the jumpsuit , although now in style abroad, never stepped out of the fashion spotlight locally.
"Jumpsuits/playsuits are always popular here."Its revival abroad is phenomenal, making a big statement on the runways in varying styles like the harem, wide-legged or ruffled."Maxi-dresses have proved a great fashion must-have. They're fun, comfortable and functional. Wear with a denim waistcoat/jacket to add dimension."Here's more of Lovell's fashion predictions based on store sales and what's out there:
White Riviera Chic
"For the more conservative, this look might more appealing . It should be worn with statement accessories and colour-block sandals or perhaps the old-school glam of bold stripes. The 90's explosion of colour is in the air! "
Feathers galore
"The kaftan and feathery-look has taken over T&T...from peacock-feathered printed dresses to feathery earrings. Although the fringing trend has not yet sparked interest here; abroad it has embraced the festival/tribal hippy-chic look on every type of apparel including shoes and handbags.
Exaggerated collar
"The exaggerated collar is presently making a massive impact on styling. The collar can powerfully transform a simple look into an edgy dynamic one The peter-pan collar has also been seen on catwalks in Europe."
