With the myriad of high-end to low-end beauty products available on the market today, along withtheirsometimes astronomicalcosts, it is prudent for us women to buy smartly but most importantly, to make the most of what we already have in our make up stash at home. Here are a few ideas that can help make the most of what you already have anda few tricksto help you with your makeup application dilemmas.
10 Tips
1. Add a few drops of your moisturiser to your liquid foundationon the back of your hand, mix well and apply on your face with your fingers as a tinted moisturiser.Perfect for those easy, breezy, sunny days.
2. If youhave unfortunately been solda pressedpowder that is too dark for your skin, insteadof throwing it out or giving it away, useit as a blush, and to even add soft contours to your face.
3. If you have a powder that is too light for your complexion, you can use it to your advantage as a highlighter, under eyes and bridge of nose.
4. Add a few drops of Witch Hazel to your foundation to combat oily or acne prone skin. It works wonders.
5. Intensify the colour power of your fading eyeshadow byslightly wetting your brush, then dip into your favourite color and apply as normal.
6. If your eyepencil gets too hard, hold it next to a light bulb for a few seconds to warm up and then apply.
7. If you run out of loose powder, dust your face lightly with unscented talcum powder instead.
8. Out of liquid eyeliner? No problem!Dip a thin brush into your mascara and apply the same way.Works like a charm.
9. To instantly lighten eyebrows, rub a bit of foundation through them andbrush through with an old toothbrush.
10. Olive oil takes off eyeshadow and mascara in a pinch.

1. To refresh your makeup during the day, mist your face with Evian or any other brand mineral water spray.
2. Warm up your face by dusting a bit of blusher over your temples, chin as well as your cheeks.
3. Make your lips look larger by using bright lipstick colours, make them appear smaller by wearing more dark, muted hues.
4. Women who are near-sighted and wear glasses, eyes automatically appearsmaller. To combat this, opt for bright, bold eyeshadows and lots of mascara to ensure they don't disappear.
5. Women who are far-sighted, your lenses will make your eyes appear bigger than normal.Take care to use soft, muted eye colours so it would not seem as obvious.
6. To open up youreyes and give them a bright eyed look, try outlining them just inside your lower eyelashes with a soft whiteor yellow eye pencil.
7. If you look tired, blend a small amount of concealer under your eyes and powder lightly to set.It would make you look as if you had a good night's sleep.
8. To prevent lipstick from getting on your teeth.Put your index finger in your mouth, purse your lips and pull it out, taking all excess off with it.
9. Sweep a little loose 'catch'powder under your eyes when applying especially dark shades of eye shadow to catch falling specks and prevent major clean up afterwards. Dust off lightly with a fan brush after application.
10. Apply cream blusher in light downward movements to prevent creasing and specks of colour from catching the fine hairs on the face.
