In pursuit of its Canadian Missionary objective of educating young girls, the school on the hill had become a magnet for those who wanted a holistically uplifting environment. In 1980 Camille Ramdial was one of these young ladies coming from an underprivileged home with an abusive, alcoholic father who died when she was nine, and an illiterate mother, who sold cows' milk to meet the financial needs of her four daughters. Camille typified those whom the missionaries sought to provide for educationally.Young Camille fully understood the importance of a sound education. Her first choice at the Common Entrance Exam was Naparima Girls' High School. With no idea where the school was located, she knew it was the best.
The holistic 'Naparima experience' nurtured Camille's strengths and talents. Students' council, sports, operettas, drama and music festivals strengthened her leadership skills, team orientation and self-confidence. The students' support services provided Camille with books and uniforms throughout her school life. This generosity instilled in Ms. Ramdial a passion for helping others, represented in the school's motto: "Non nobis solum sed omnibus", which translated means, "Not for ourselves but for all." She has served various non profit entities- the most recent being the Public Relations Committee of The Naparima Girls' High School Centenary Committee.Camille acknowledges life's many blessings and challenges. She reached managerial level at Royal Bank Ltd. and also furthered her tertiary studies. Two personal painful experiences however, forced her to re-examine her life and begin her deeper spiritual journey. Camille became divorced after 2 years of marriage and lost a lifelong friend in a tragic accident. The latter event fired a passion for life in Camille, so that her personal philosophy became "embracing life and seizing as many opportunities as possible to fulfill one's purpose or reason for existence."
Having become Financial Advisor with Clico, she faced further recent challenges, but Camille's personal passion and spiritual sense remain strong, enabling her commitment to helping her clients through the current calamity. She credits the challenges as being necessary to help her stay true to the second part of the school's motto "but for all."Blessed with a home, world travel, her son, and her own business - Camilleon Consulting Limited, her passion for learning continues, as she is completing her MBA studies with Heriot Watt University. Her passions also include nurturing her son to fulfill his own purpose, and fulfilling her company's mission, 'Changing Futures'.30 years later, from humble beginnings, Camille still aims high while being rooted in the values she learnt up on the hill - be your best, work hard, focus on fulfilling your life's purpose, and help those around you, whether they be friends, clients, school, community or country.Naparima Girls High School celebrates its 100 years of existence with a series of events for 2011 and 2012.
