Makeup application is very much artistry and the average woman who wears makeup is her own personal makeup artist. But what about our face (our canvas), the very thing that we place the makeup on? Many times we forget that our face is the blank canvas and makeup looks best on skin that is in the best shape and the best condition. We have to pay attention to our skin and we have to remember that while makeup can do wonders, it can only do so much. We have to do our part to help to take care of and preserve the skin we are in – the very thing that is underneath it all.So beneath your makeup, you should do these three things to your skin to ensure that you get the most out of your makeup application.
Ensure that you take careof your skin.
As my skin care colleagues would agree, you can't get away from the old three-step process of cleansing, toning and moisturizing. This is basic skin care and what you should be doing at a very minimum. Additionally, when you wear makeup it is also very important that you remove all traces of it at the end of the day. Makeup left on the skin can clog it and lead to breakouts (which in turn lead to a different set of issues such as acne scarring etc.) So to avoid all that, get a skin care regimen that you can work with and stick to it religiously.
Use all the different kinds of primers
available and use correcting primers. Regular facial primers will do a perfect job of smoothing out your skin and make it ready to place makeup. Eye primers will help your eye shadow adhere and last longer and the correcting primers can camouflage problem skin types or make your skin appear less dull and more luminous or radiant (which in turn makes you look more youthful).
Ensure that you use specialised skin care products
like eye creams. The skin around the eyes is thin and sensitive and as such should be treated with gentle care, especially as you get older. A good eye cream will minimise the appearance of under-eye bags, darkness and eye wrinkles which really can make you look older. A good eye cream can also tighten the eye skin or moisturise it and it will visibly make you look younger and make the skin ready to accept concealers and foundations.
MakeupTip of the week
As the holiday and party seasonapproaches, try to pump up your lip colour by adding neon coloured pigments on top of your lip colour. (For example add a neon orange pigment on top of a red lip colour). The results will be electric!
