1. To be wrong. Believing that we are always right does not validate the delusion. Most great inventions grew out of wrong calculations and the failed actions of their inventors. If we are honest with ourselves, we will acknowledge our limitations, apologize for our errors, make amends when necessary and be more willing to forgive people for their mistakes. You're not always right and it's okay.
2. To say no. We may not like to hear it but 'No' can be a springboard for a 'Yes' that inspires greater things than we imagined initially. It helps if we remember that 'No' to one thing, situation or person is a resounding 'Yes' to another and to ourselves. Say 'No'; it's okay.
3. To ask for help. No one has all the answers. The sooner we accept that truth, the sooner we can dispel the shame we are carrying around. Asking for help lifts the burden of thinking that we have to walk our paths alone - generate every idea, fix every problem, stay motivated and live a balanced life. Ask for help; it's okay.
4. To be silent. As long as it doesn't hinder our job performance or jeopardize our relationships, we can choose to stay in our silent zone as long as we need to center ourselves, calm our anxieties or mentally separate ourselves from noise, chatter and personal interactions. Silence gets us to a better mental and emotional place. Be silent; it's okay.
5. To take me-time. Regardless how often we hear about the necessity and benefits of taking me-time, we still feel guilty for doing it and even wanting to do it. We owe it to ourselves to make an appointment to treat ourselves lovingly or snatch up any free moment to stop and take a few cleansing breaths. Schedule some regular me-time; it's okay.
6.To feed our passion. Fear of failure and the unknown coupled with what other people might believe, think and say paralyses us en route to our dreams. To feed our passion so it stays alive, we should keep it front and centre in all our daily activities. We should keep it informed and inspired by what we read, who we spend time with and by fine-tuning the vision and the plan. When naysayers rise up, discard whatever hinders our journey and apply what will help us along. Feed your passion; it's okay.
7. To let go. Whether it is grief over a loss, bitterness because of a wrong we've suffered, anger over a miscarriage of justice to someone we love or memories that eat at our souls, there comes a time when we must make peace with the realities of the issue.
8. To let prayer. Through prayer we can access the wisdom, guidance, grace and strength to let go. We have things to do, places to go and people to see. Let go of unnecessary burdens, pick up the pieces and move on with your life. It's okay.
In spite of your busyness and gadgets, is your life lacking balance, fun, fulfillment and purpose? Does the pursuit of your dreams feel burdensome? Then it might be time to rethink how you approach your day and live your life. Go ahead, chart a new way for yourself. It's okay.
