Already, the summer blockbusters are leading the pack with their offerings of adventure, suspense, romance and comedy. If you're planning to surprise your mother with a much needed and deserved Movie lime, here's what you need to know before you take her out.
Find out what she would like to see:
From 'early o'clock', you're supposed to know Mom's taste in movies. Use her TV watching habits as a guide. Chances are if she likes a good detective drama, she will be into the suspense genre of films. If she loves to just sit in her favourite chair and laugh her tushie off, you have a comedy lover on your hands. Still, if you are not sure, ask. Get a guide and go through it and see what she loves; if the lime is a surprise, then call her friends.... of course they would know (and remember) the shows they went with mom to see. Then plan your movie date with mommy.
Mode of attire:
Or in other words, how she's going to dress for the occasion. Many times the movie outing begins with dinner somewhere fancy (or casual). Jeans and a dressy top are just fine, and make sure Mom is wearing comfortable shoes. When heading to the movie theatre, a number one issue is often the temperature – a lot of women take a coat along just in case. It should be the same for mom too, so keep one of her jackets on standby in your vehicle (and hold it for her too).
To snack
or not to snack:
Just ask mom what she'd like to have. Unless the Mother's Day lime began with a meal, chances are, she will relish a simple meal combo if the cinema offers it, plus something salty or sweet to nibble on. Or she many just choose to have a bag of popcorn. If Daddy's tagging along, they can certainly share one container – just for the memories.
Who's paying?
Of course you're paying! It's Mother's Day after all! She is not to lift a finger at the movie theatre, especially if it's the finger that opens her purse. Understand? This is a treat for Mom, so do just that, treat her to a fun time.
Most importantly, don't forget to tell her that she's the best mom ever, okay? Have fun at the movies!
