Modern Bollywood Brides

Somehow slowly but surely, there seems to be a paradigm shift creeping into the way modern Hindu brides wish to present themselves to the world on their wedding day.  The traditional Hindu bridal make up of years gone by conjures up images of faces completely sealed with heavily applied foundations and powders, boldly painted on eye shadows in rich gold, reds and burgundies with black kajal liner winged all the way out off the eyelids and of course, the most dramatic red lipstick to be found on planet earth. The exchange has occurred however largely to the great influence of Bollywood and its’ gorgeous actresses who dare to break free from tradition and  embrace the more refined makeup applications and trends of the Western world, while still maintaining some basic makeup ideals of generations gone by.  \

 

Think of it as, Bollywood meets Hollywood, makeup style.   That analogy seems to be quite appropriate for this shift in the requests of the modern Hindu bride from bold and beautiful to subtle and beautifully sultry. The modern Bollywood Bride still maintains adequate foundation coverage on her face but with a mimimalistic approach using the minimum amount of product and much less powder than before to achieve a flawless yet more natural looking skin finish. The trend for the eyes are leaning towards smokey with the use of steel grey, dark burgundy and black tones, think Kim Kadashian, there is still the winged out eyeliner at times but with much more refinement, precision and control, keeping the entire eye very sexy. Cheeks are usually blushed in hues of soft neutral colours in soft pinks and peaches with the more daring bride opting for shades of vibrant oranges.   Nude lipsticks in varying colours such as tan, taupe, soft pinks and softly burnished orangey gold present itself on the lips of the young and fearless tradition breaking Hindu brides, tipping their hats or indeed giving the nod to the amazingly far reaching influence of young Bollywood.
