Bridal season 2012 is upon us and already most of my weekends are booked solid up to August with some weekends being double-booked. Trends reflect that while couples get married all throughout the year, the months of June, July and August still continue to be the choice months for weddings. You've already handpicked your groom, venue, reception and bar menu, cake, gown and accessories and a well respected photographer to capture your memories; now is the perfect time to carefully select your ideal makeup look and professional makeup artist. This is not a day you would want to experiment with makeup applications on your own or ask a friend or relative to substitute as a professional makeup artist. I have seen many a sad bride having to re-do their wedding portraits after their nuptials because the make-up or photography was definitely not up to their standard.
If you are a bride-to-be that daydreams of castles, fairytale weddings and have visions of sceneries full of flowers and flickering candlelight going round in your head, then you are definitely what I would call a Romantic Bride. With romance comes class, grace, elegance and purity and a refined quality of precision, detail and enhancement of all things natural. So it is a no-brainer that the Romantic Bride wears her makeup not only flawlessly beautifully but also light and natural to remain true to her own natural beauty. For the bride contemplating a fairytale wedding, you would most definitely want to consider having a romantic makeup application. When you make your entrance, if your plan is to make your handsome prince weak in the knees or to make his beating heart flutter, then Romantic Make-up is your ally.
Forget the bronzes, golds and bold colours, on your wedding day, go ivory, brown and beige. You can also play with soft pinks and peaches as well. I usually channel my turn-of–the century brides towards shimmery neutrals on the eyelids, silky nude blushes on the cheeks, smudged pastel eyeliners paired with nude glossy lips. My choice would be a sheer foundation with a super light sweep of a micro-fine milled powder to set the makeup. With a few drops of an illuminating liquid or crème feathered onto the temples and cheeks for added highlights you are sure to make a grand entrance and have your groom and guests alike in awe with your totally romantic and irresistibly gorgeous look. On my beautiful model Sabrina Thomas, I really wanted to highlight her incredibly romantic personality using neutral tones of beiges and browns to bring out her own natural beauty. With the assistance of my super talented photographer Damian Luk Pat, Sabrina truly epitomises the elegant romance of a princess of an era gone by.
