My choice when on an outdoor shoot, or even a day of fun at the beach would find me reaching for foundation, to add an extra layer of protection and prevent me from getting too tanned or burnt; I even apply some on my arms and legs for good measure. I know there is a great dilemma for women when deciding upon which products would actually work for them in the great outdoors and would stand up to the harsh elements of sun, sea, sand and humidity. For the ladies who prefer to go bare faced, I recommend you use an oil free moisturiser with an SPF of at least 15 and use a sunblock, not a sunscreen over that. For added sun protection slather on M.A.C Cosmetics Studio Moisture Tint SPF15 in your colour choice, this lightweight tinted moisturizer/foundation evens out the skin tone while creating a flawless protected finish.
Now for the ladies who wish to wear makeup in the outdoors please remember a matte look is definitely not what we are going for here, you want your face to look radiant and sun kissed not heavy and weighed down with pounds of makeup. Use a lightweight, oil free moisturizer on your skin, such as Origins Perfect World SPF 25 Moisturiser with White Tea, then lay a tissue flat on your face and tap gently to remove any excess moisture. Follow with a sunblock of between SPF30 and 45 such as Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch, ensure your choice of sunblock is water and not oil based, now add a light, oil free Primer such as M.A.C's Prep + Prime which is formulated with special effects silicones that blot away excess oil and provides a great base for foundation or Smashbox Photo Finish Primer which is also oil free and 60% water based so it's ideal for oily skin types. The great dilemma for most is what type of foundation to use that would stand up to humidity. Liquid, water-based foundations are the right choice. MAC's Face and Body Foundation is a fantastically light and sheer foundation especially formulated for high humidity, it is both water based and water resistant, and Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place SPF 10 Foundation is also a great humidity buster.

Used as a blush it blends easily even in the most out-of-practice hands, dries to a perfect non-greasy, streak-free finish, as an added bonus each shade is scented with it's namesake and it makes a deliciously sumptuous lip stain as well. Waterproof eyeliners and mascaras are a must with a plethora of brands to choose from, I like Too Faced Perfect eyes and Badgal liner from Benefit Cosmetics, for mascaras I use M.A.C Cosmetics Splashproof Lash and L'Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lashes.
