I ran into my model Deneice, for today's article purely by chance at a Cafe in Woodbrook and after a light conversation enquired if she would be game enough to indulge me in a little make-up playtime along with photographer Sallim October. Naturally gorgeous without makeup, I set out to take her out of her comfort zone and up the ante a few notches without making her feel uncomfortable. This one is for my readers who would like to amp up their makeup but are wary of experimenting with too much colour for fear of not staying true to their natural beauty and dislike sticking out like a sore thumb wherever they may go. The various forms of what is defined as Natural Beauty seem to differ from woman to woman. A great tip would be to choose soft, earthy colours, play around with them and come up with your very own personalised beauty looks. You will know if you got it right when women start asking you about your beauty regimen. Smile, you are on the right track! To assist you in formulating your own makeup plan, I will let you in on my secrets in taking Denice from a no make-up look to one that I like to refer to as my Natural night time look.
The Kit
1.Prep+Prime Skin Brightening Serum hydrated and plumped her skin.
2.Prep+Prime Vibrancy Eye Primer, a quick fix for puffy eyes.
3.Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 in NC45 was light and comfortable to the skin, applied with a small Duo Fibre brush in circular motion.
4.Select Moisture Cover in NW45 with a built in dot to dot wand, an easy DIY.
5.Her entire face was dusted with a pressed Bronzing Powder in Matte Brown for a sheer, natural effect.
6.Nylon, a pale gold with shimmer was swished on inner eyelids and Hocus Pocus, a dark, sooty grey on the outer corners of the eyes.
7.Eyes were lined with a PowerPoint eye pencil in Engraved and smudged with a small brush.
8. Brow Set in Rich Brown groomed her brows and got them into shape.
9. Format, a pinkish brown frost, blushed her cheeks.
10.My lip liner of choice was a Crème stick liner in Cushy, a mid-tone brown.
11.Lips were laced with a bronzed copper red in Ornamental Lustreglass.
12.Finally Deneice's lashes were swept with M.A.C's Haute+ Naughty mascara which is a unique two in one mascara that allowed me the option to choose a naturally defined look or to load lashes for full on drama. I chose Natural.
