Worry, not. This article focuses on some of the main lip products that are available today and how you can make them work for your desired look.
LIPSTICK
Let's start with lipstick; after all, most of us have been experimenting with lipstick since we could reach the top of our mother's dressing table. Lipstick today has been redefined by science and technology, yet still provides a classic, timeless look. Never underestimate the power of lipstick. Which other makeup product do you know has the ability to transform a bare face from drab to fab in mere seconds? You can also blend in a dab on your cheeks for a natural blush. Its effectiveness makes it a must-have in your makeup bag.
LIP GLOSS
This is a favorite go-to lip product for women today. It's not as heavy as lipstick and its sheer, glossy and light consistency offers a more modern look. Sheer glosses are perfect for day looks while more pigmented, glossier ones can add glamour and drama to evening looks. Another great factor about lip gloss is that you don't necessarily need a mirror to put it on, which makes it just perfect for modern women on the go.
LIP LINERS OR LIP CRAYONS
These products are seen regularly on today's shelves. Traditionally they are used on the outer line of the lips to define the shape of the lips and to prevent the lip colour from smudging (before applying lipstick or gloss). They can also be used alone on the entire lip to provide a semi-matte finish. Liners have more staying power than glosses or lipsticks due to their drier texture.
LIP STAINS
Newer to the market, these are usually a liquid which when applied stains your lip temporarily. The unique feature about this product is that it can intensify your lip colour without looking like you have on any makeup. It is also one of the more long-lasting lip products. Dress it up by applying gloss or balm over the stain.
LIP BALM OR LIP BUTTER
These are two very similar products. Smooth, creamy and super-moisturising, they can feel like heaven on your lips. They are the best products to prevent chapping and cracking of the lips in hot or dry weather. You can opt for either clear, or tinted with a hint of colour for a very natural finish.
Whichever lip product you favour, choose a shade that compliments your individual skin tone. "Hydrating" or "Moisturising" products will keep your kissers soft and smooth. Products labeled "Long Lasting", "Colour Stay" or "24HR" usually don't rub off easily and will keep you looking fantastic all day without as many touch ups. Also, experiment and combine different types of lip products to create exciting new looks!
