?Quick work by East­ern Di­vi­sion de­tec­tives re­sult­ed in the ar­rest of two thieves ear­ly yes­ter­day morn­ing. Po­lice said around 2 am, a watch­man on du­ty at the Cross Cut­ters Su­per­mar­ket, George Street, San­gre Grande, was on du­ty when five armed men came out from a heav­i­ly-tint­ed car and en­tered the premis­es. The as­sailants tied up the watch­man and broke in­to the su­per­mar­ket, mak­ing off with a large quan­ti­ty of gro­ceries.

The watch­man, how­ev­er, man­aged to free him­self and im­me­di­ate­ly called pro­pri­etor Anil Ali. Po­lice of­fi­cers dis­cov­ered the get­away car aban­doned in Ari­ma. Act­ing on in­for­ma­tion, the homes of the two sus­pects were searched and gro­cery items were found. Up to late yes­ter­day af­ter­noon, two men, ages 36 and 38, were as­sist­ing po­lice with in­ves­ti­ga­tions. (GK)
