Title-holder, Caledonia AIA of Morvant/Laventille will come up against fellow Pro League club, Ma Pau in the feature match of the T&T Football Federation FA Trophy quarterfinal round on Monday. Caledonia, which defeated another Pro League club, Defence Force, 2-0 in its round-of-16 clash last Monday, and Ma Pau, will meet in the first match of a double-header at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya, from 5 pm. The Woodbrook-based Ma Pau in only its second year of professional football stormed into the quarterfinals with a 4-1 win over bmobile Joe Public's Super League line-up. Two hours later, Digicel Pro League champion, Joe Public, a three-time FA winners (2001, 2004 & 2007), and chasing a fourth title for the season, will face its Eastern Football Association clubmates, Joe Public, which was one of three association teams to reach the last eight.
The "Eastern Lions" professional squad booked its place in the quarterfinals with a 7-1 mauling of Dathea FC while its EFA counterpaths blanked Palo Seco 3-0. A double-header is also carded for the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, where Pro League duo, W Connection and United Petrotrin will fancy it chances of reaching the semifinals.
In the first match at the Couva venue, W Connection, which has enjoyed a lean season, will do battle with EFA FA Trophy champion, Valtrin United. The "Savonetta Boys", winner in 1999, 2000 and 2002, overcame Pro League rival, Clico San Juan Jabloteh 3-1 in a battle of former winners while Valtrin stunned Super League club, Defence Force.
The "Oilmen", who claimed a 1-0 extra-time win over T&TEC, will entertain another South-based team, Siparia Spurs in the second match.
Spurs got past T&T Air Guard/Coast Guard 3-2 in its round-of-16 clash.
Following Monday's matches, the semifinal draw will take place on Tuesday December 1. The FA winner will collect $80,000, the FA trophy and 25 gold medals while the runner-up get $40,000 and 25 silver medals. The losing semifinalists each collect $15,000 with the qualifiers for the last16 receiving $1,250 each. Other awards include $2,000 each for the "Most Valuable Player" of the tournament and the scorer of the most goals. The Fair Play recipient will get $5,000.
