Former kidnap victim Debbie Ali is contemplating fleeing the country after reportedly receiving death threats.
In an interview yesterday, a distraught Ali said she feared not only for her life but also for that of her husband and her two children. According to Ali, as she was about to leave home at Roystonia, Couva, around 7.30 am on Monday she spotted a strange vehicle parked outside. "I saw a strange white wagon parked outside and I saw this man pointing at me and waving his finger at me," Ali said. She said she become so frightened she immediately locked herself inside, worried her life was in immediate danger.
The former school teacher said memories of her 2007 abduction flooded her mind. She added: "I was hysterical. Everything came rushing back to me. "I am still very frightened and worried. I cannot go anywhere by myself because I believe something would happen to me." Ali said she found it strange the incident occurred one day after Prime Minister Patrick Manning publicly said there was more to Ali's kidnapping than met the eye. During the same speech, Manning also claimed kidnappings were on the decrease. She said: "I find the entire thing so very coincidental. My kidnapping was very genuine and I experienced a great deal of emotional and physical trauma."If the Prime Minister says he knows otherwise then he should come out and let the public know," Ali challenged.
