Honduras rallied from a two-goal deficit to defeat visiting Costa Rica 3-2 in an Under-20 international football friendly on Tuesday at the Estadio Carlos Miranda, Comayagua, Honduras.
Both teams were using the match as continued preparations for the Concacaf Under-20 Championship in Costa Rica from February 17 to March 5.
Andy Reyes and Pablo Arboine struck in the first half for the visitor, but Honduras stormed back after the break with three un-answered goals through Darixon Vuelto (53rd), Carlos Pineda (75th) and Rembrandt Flores, three minutes into time added on. Both sides will meet again tonight at the same venue.
The T&T Under-20 men's team will come up against Costa Rica in their second Group C match of the 12-team competition at the National Stadium on February 22nd, three days after kicking off its campaign at the Ricardo Saprissa Stadium versus Bermuda.
Group a comprises Canada, Mexico, Honduras and Antigua & Barbuda while USA, Panama, Haiti and St Kitts/Nevis are in Group B.
The T&T squad which is currently involved in a residential training camp in Cali, Colombia with coach Brian Williams will end of its round-robin group campaign against El Salvador on February 25th.
Last Sunday, Williams, along with his coach staff and 26 players left for Cali where they are expected to play up to five training matches against local Professional clubs in Colombia, and possibly a game against the Colombia national Under-20 team after which the T&T coach will name his final 20-man squad for the Concacaf Finals.
