Kareem Moses of North East Stars is the lone uncapped player in an 18-man national squad named by interim coach Hutson "Barber" Charles for a friendly international away to Canada on Wednesday at the Central Broward Regional Complex in Fort Lauderdale. The match is being used as part of T&T's preparations for the Digicel Cup qualifiers. Moses, a member of the Under-23 Olympic squad, recently transfered from St Ann's Rangers to Stars and joins club-mates Seon Powers and goalkeeper Cleon John, another new signing from the defunct San Juan Jabloteh in the squad named by Charles, who will be in charge of the senior squad for only the second-time after starting with a 4-0 away to Antigua & Barbuda in February.
The squad includes seven over-seas based players in Belgium-based midfielder, Khaleem Hyland (KRC Genk), Vancouver Whitecaps' defender Carlyle Mitchell, midfielder Hughton Hector of Vietnam's Song Lam Nghe An, Charlotte Eagles' striker Darryl Roberts, Orlando City Lions midfielder, Kevin Molino, speedy winger Lester "Corn Curls" Peltier of Slovakia's SK Slovan Bratislava and midfielder Keon Daniel of US Major League Soccer's Philadelphia Union. The other members of the team which will depart on Monday for Florida are W Connection trio, Daniel Cyrus, Joevin Jones and Clyde Leon and the Defence Force trio of Rodell Elcock, Devorn Jorsling and Richard "Shaka" Roy.
Speaking earlier this month Charles said he knows Canada is an organised team which has shown good form in their World Cup qualifying matches recently. Canada, coached by T&T-born Stephen Hart, is preparing for World Cup qualifiers against Panama and Cuba in September. Following the Canada match, T&T will be away to Puerto Rico next month while an invitation has been extended from a European opponent for a match to be played at a later date.
