Minister of Community Development Winston "Gypsy" Peters yesterday received a visit from four members of the Canadian Dawah Association at the ministry's head office on Jerningham Avenue, Belmont. The purpose of the visit, Peters said, was "to begin dialogue with the association on the issue of youth violence."
During the meeting, ways in which the Dawah Association could partner with the Ministry of Community Development to address youth violence, particularly in communities, were discussed. Additionally, social programmes and activities that can be designed to engage youth more, so that they turn away from violence and crime, were tabled. This was the first of many more meetings expected to take place between the Community Development Minister and the Canadian Dawah Association.
