Erin police killed a vicious pit bull after it attacked a female police officer and mauled a pet poodle to death yesterday. Investigators said around 8.50 am, Tricia Sankar, 38, of No 30 Buenos Ayres Road, Erin alerted police that the pit bull was roaming the streets in front of her home. The pit bull mauled Sankar's pet poodle and rushed several residents from the area. Cpl Makaskie and WPC Ochoa visited the scene and saw the white and brown pit bull attacking the poodle.
As they approached the front yard, the pit bull left the poodle and tried to attack WPC Ochoa. She pulled out her service revolver and fired a single shot at the dog, killing it instantly. The bullet went through the pit bull's head. Its owner was later contacted by the police. He said the pit bull broke its leash and went on a rampage. Cpl Joefield of the Erin police is continuing investigations.
