In collaboration with Republic Bank Ltd, the T&T Cancer Society (TTCS) is hosting its first online Text-a-thon and auction tomorrow.
Throughout this global pandemic, the TTCS has created ways to continue its activities and provide support to the national community in every way possible, including education, screening, survivor network relations, and advocacy. However, one area required creative thinking—innovative ways to continue fundraising.
While the government subsidises the TTCS, there is always a need to create additional funds to keep the organisation functioning at capacity to continue to offer the level and standard of screening services and education programmes.
The Text-a-Thon aspect of this event (a spin-off to traditional telethons) allows people to send in their pledges via WhatsApp, texts and email or deposit directly to our account via our website.

The auction aspect functions where people can send in their bids again via text, WhatsApp, and email. The highest bidder wins the chance to purchase said item.
The wheels are already in motion, and bidding and pledges have started, so anyone wishing to donate, pledge, or bid can do so now and support the country’s fight against cancer.
These elements will come together at the very anticipated online concert event tomorrow.
It will all be streamed live on Facebook and Instagram, from 3 pm to 6 pm. Several artistes will be performing online to create a concert vibe so that people can join in for some fun and excitement.
These include: Erphaan Alves, Veekash Sahadeo, Marcia Miranda, Kevon Carter, Johann Chuckaree, David Huggins, Republic Bank Extraordinaires Tassa Drummers and Crazylegs Entertainment.
