Ralph Walter Guerra, 82, born in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, West Indies passed away on Saturday March 7, 2020 at St. Mary's Hospital in Montreal, Canada. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00am on Friday March 13, 2020 at Rideau Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Dollard–des-Ormeaux, Quebec, Canada. Ralph was born on July 13, 1937. He married his beloved wife of 58 years, Gemma Rose Andrews (deceased) on July 19, 1958. Ralph graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics Degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C. in June, 1960 and went on to study at the London School of Economics in London, England in 1963. After completing their studies, Ralph & Gemma returned to North America on the Empress of Canada ocean liner in 1964 and settled in Montreal, Quebec, Canada to raise their family. Ralph was employed as a buyer for Steinbergs & Miracle Mart, a well-known, innovative grocery and merchandise retail chain in the Quebec and Ontario region. His career spanned 24 years with that company, and he enjoyed his work thoroughly. Ralph loved being a family man, and enjoyed sports, videography, and being a member of the Montreal Caring Society. He celebrated his West Indian heritage every chance he could with his family and close friends. He enjoyed reading about news events taking place in Trinidad, catching up with old friends, and spent a significant amount of time bonding with the 7 grandchildren who he and Gemma loved so dearly. Ralph is survived and loved by his two daughters, Sharon (Roderick) and Francine (Richard), son, Doug, 7 grandchildren, Nicole, Tammy, Justin, Nathaniel, Alicia, Olivia, Simone; his sisters Elsie and Brenda of Brooklyn, NY, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raphael and Doris, and brother, Oswald, and wife, Gemma most recently in 2016. Ralph, "Daddy", "Grandpere", "Uncle Ralph" will be greatly missed by other relatives and friends.
