On Sunday the Moods Pan Groove of Brooklyn New York, managed by Clyde Durant, will be hosting its first post-lockdown offline event, PanJazz, from 6-10 pm, at The Palace, 713, Norstrand Avenue, Corner of Sterling Place, Brooklyn, NY 11216.
“Breaking the drought after more than a year of social distancing and being confined to our homes due to the pandemic lockdown, people are looking forward to meeting, greeting, hugging, sharing closer space in public, and more heartening, swaying to the sweet sounds of the steelpan. It’s the buzz in New York,” said the director of the event, Sherma Earle.
The event is in honour of Emmanuel “Jack” Reiley, and Douglas “Dougie” Martin, the late manager of the Crossfire Steel Orchestra, who succumbed to the COVID-19 virus.
To be featured are ace pannist, world-renowned pan soloist, and celebrated arranger, Duvone “Master Maestro” Stewart; three-time champion at the Annual WIADCA and UK Steelband Panoramas, successful arranger at Trinidad Panoramas, André White and super New York group, Steel Sensations.
Guests artistes are in store.
The entrance fee is US$50 and hors d’oeuvres will be served from 6 pm when gates open.
The show is scheduled to begin at 7 pm.
