We often believe that medical doctors hold the secret CODE when it comes to our health and it’s therefore their responsibility to make sure we stay in good health right? Wrong! Our spiritual and physical bodies were given to us by our Creator which means it is our inalienable right to take care of them.
As the great Buddha once postulated “To keep the body in good health is a duty… otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.” So stop listening to the noise outside of yourself and start listening to the wisdom of your body. I can safely say this, once you start living from that place, your body has a wonderful way of responding and the magic of great health starts happening.
The biggest issue I have observed with my clients over time is the constant struggle to take their health into their own hands, their inability to own their power and listen to themselves and the wisdom of their bodies. The body never stops speaking to us. Just think about it...if you allow your body to be burdened with less than healthy food choices and you have no exercise regime to assist in counteracting the negative impact of these poor food choices, then the inevitable end could be sickness, disease and possibly death. Added to that, if you constantly allow your personal space to be pervaded by negative things and people that create an environment of toxicity around you, a build up of stress can occur and if you do not have a positive outlet for this, you can bet your bottom dollar that sickness, disease or death can spring and thrive in your life.
Great health starts with understanding what is taking place inside of you and getting to the root cause. Many of us know when there’s something odd going on deep down inside of us, yet we constantly choose to listen to the noise outside of ourselves. I would be the first to say that I absolutely admire the diligence and dedication of the persons within the medical fraternity. They are hard workers who save lives every single day. However, they don’t follow you around or go home with you and thus it is not their responsibility to make or keep you healthy. That responsibility is yours! It is YOUR duty! The old paternalistic approach to healthcare has to end. We all must take a more proactive role in our own health to avoid the inevitable pitfalls.
Authentically YOU know in your soul when something needs to change, so what’s stopping you from setting a desired goal? Researchers from the National Institute of Health in the United States of America found: “initiation of health behaviour is determined primarily by favourable expectations regarding future outcomes.” So this is simple... if you set up encouraging expectations, you are more likely to act towards your new health habits. So the key is to identify your expectations, set some realistic health goals and be sure you are encouraged and motivated by them. Make sure they are achievable within your preferred timeframe. It’s all a matter of having clear goals and expectations. Have fun with it. After all your health is your DUTY. It all starts now, it starts with one simple action and more importantly, it starts with you.
