Two board members of the Trinidad & Tobago Automobile Association (TTAA), Selwyn Richard Persad and Daryl Geawan were both nominated and specially selected as two out of 30 attendees from 17 clubs worldwide to take part in the 11th edition of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile-FIA University Emerging Leaders Programme 2022.
The programme is exclusively dedicated to FIA Member Clubs. The 11th edition was held in Barcelona, Spain, from May 16 to 20, 2022.
The FIA Emerging Leaders programme, is a collaboration between the FIA and the University of Esade Business School.
Participants came together to share their experiences and train for the future of Mobility and club transformation under the FIA.
FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem visited the participants on the final morning to share some insights on his vision for the FIA under his presidency, and to share in the discussions with the participants.

This was the first time in the 11-year history of the programme that the president of the FIA has visited.
The participants, as specially invited VIP guests of the FIA, were afforded the opportunity to attend the F1 Spainish Grand Prix having received private tours of the paddocks/pits and safety areas.
The FIA is an association established in 1904 to represent the interests of motoring organisations and motor car users.
The FIA is mostly known as the governing body for many auto racing events, such as the well-known Formula One.
Persad and Gaewan are both board members of the TTAA (Trinidad & Tobago Automobile Association), a non-profit organisation which is a full affiliate member to the FIA under the Mobility arm.
The TTAA is the only organisation in T&T responsible for all International Driving Permits and mobility service to its members.
Persad and Geawan toured one of largest wine producers in Spain with other participants, and received their Diplomas for the development of mobility and club transformation.
