The first round of credit union employees is expected to be vaccinated this week, vice president of the Central Finance Facility Co-operative Society of T&T (CFF)Lyndon Byer believes.
Last Friday, the Credit Union fraternity joined the rest of the financial services sector in the fight to protect front line service providers and the public against COVID-19.
“Although lagging a bit behind, the vaccination of the Credit Union sector began in earnest last Friday as scores of Credit Union employees braved the inclement weather and yellow alerts to obtain their first Siopharm jab,” a release from the CFF stated yesterday.
Byer welcomed the initiative and expressed optimism that a strategy would be implemented to ensure that all Credit Union employees would receive the vaccine within the shortest possible time frame.
He conceded that the turnout on Friday might have been higher had it not been for the inclement weather and the brief time frame for mobilisation.
“Credit Unions provide more than financial services. We also provide social and emotional support to our loyal members. It is incumbent therefore that our dedicated staff are protected as they provide these services,” Byer stated.
The vaccination of the Credit Union workers was an initiative of Minister of Youth Development and National Service Foster Cummings.
