RHONDOR DOWLAT-ROSTANT
Two men escaped serious injuries and/or possible death when a gunman opened fire on them in the Belmont area on Saturday.
Police said at about 8 pm on Saturday June 5th, the two men, ages 40 and 21 years, were on Gloster Lodge Road in a vehicle, when they were approached by an armed man who was wearing a ski mask.
The gunman asked the 21-year-old what he was doing in the area, to which he responded that he lived in there. The gunman then reportedly pointed the gun at him.
Police said the 40-year-old, who was in the driver’s seat, became fearful for their lives and started the vehicle and sped off.
The gunman is said to have opened fire on the vehicle, shooting the front windscreen, back glass and dashboard. No one was injured.
The police were notified, and a team of officers led by Sgt Khan, Cpl Ramlogan, PC Madeira, and PC Layne visited the scene.
Several spent shells were recovered.
PC Madeira is investigating.
