The Police Service will receive a boost of an additional 200 patrol motorbikes.
This was made possible as National Security Minister Stuart Young signed a protocol on behalf of the Government giving effect to the provision of Gratis Aid to T&T by the People’s Republic of China.
Signing the protocol on behalf of the People’s Republic of China was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of T&T Song Yumin.
The ministry said the protocol signing operationalises two agreements established in 2012 and 2014 respectively.
Under the protocol, the People’s Republic of China will provide a range of goods and services to T&T, for use by T&T as they execute their mandate to Aid Civil Power and law enforcement.
Both parties have reiterated their commitment to further support and collaborate with each other to make T&T a safer nation for all.
Young said, “The addition of 200 patrol motorbikes to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service will make a tremendous positive difference in law enforcement and we thank the Republic of China for this assistance.”
