The funeral service for late chutney singer Anil Bheem is tentatively planned for tomorrow at the NCIC Nagar site in Endeavour, Chaguanas.
The announcement was made via 103.1 FM’s Facebook page yesterday.
Bheem passed away suddenly at his home in Curepe on Saturday morning, shortly after he returned from two performances earlier that night - one in South and the other in Central.
Bheem’s passing came as a shock to the chutney fraternity, with many sharing their sentiments, fondest memories and extending condolences to the bereaved family and close friends.
As tributes continued to pour in yesterday, Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar described his death as “another blow to the local music industry.”
“It is with deep sadness I offer condolences to the friends and family of Anil Bheem. With yet another blow to the local music industry, Anil has left us with a hole in our hearts, as he was a household name within our nation,” Persad-Bissessar said.
“I recognise his enormous contributions to our local culture and his efforts in placing T&T on the international stage. He will be forever missed. May he rest in peace,” she added.
