More rain is expected on Wednesday as T&T remains under an adverse weather warning for the next 24 hours.
The #1 Yellow Level alert was issued on Tuesday with heavy showers, thunderstorms, flash flooding and gusty winds expected between 10 am on Wednesday and 8 pm on Friday.
On Wednesday, meteorologist Gary Benjamin predicted periods of showers in varying areas with a slight to medium chance of heavy showers or thunderstorms in a few areas for Wednesday night into Thursday.
Benjamin said during the day on Thursday, the weather would be cloudy with rain over broad areas and heavy showers or thunderstorms in a few areas. He warned that winds can become gusty with heavy showers or thunderstorms and there is a likelihood of street and/or flash flooding in prone areas. There is also the risk of riverine flooding in a few areas.
Around 2 pm on Wednesday, flooding was reported along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway along the eastbound lanes between Mausica and O’Meara Road, which quickly subsided.
The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) issued a reminder on Wednesday for citizens to contact their respective regional corporation in case of emergencies such as landslides, flooding or fallen trees.
The ODPM said there were some reports of street flooding in parts of Port-of-Spain, Kelly Village, Caroni and along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway between Piarco and Trincity.
