All Trinidad and Tobago nationals residing in St Vincent and the Grenadines who are all residing near the capital to the south of the island are accounted for and safe.
This is according to the Minister of Foreign and Caricom Affairs Dr Amery Browne.
The Ministry of Foreign and Caricom Affairs yesterday called on citizens of Trinidad and Tobago who are in St Vincent and the Grenadines to contact its offices.
In a statement issued yesterday, the ministry said the Government has noted with concern the most recent activity at the La Soufrière volcano and its impact on the Government and people of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
It added the Government is mindful that there are nationals of Trinidad and Tobago in that country who may be affected by the activity of La Soufrière volcano.
As such it has urged nationals to contact the Ministry of Foreign and Caricom Affairs at the email address: nationalsinsvg@foreign.gov.tt to register their names, contact information, and current status.
When contacted for an update the Minister said the ministry has been in contact with nationals and all were safe and he added none of them requested evacuation at this stage.
He said, “The Ministry has received no requests for relocational assistance from any T&T nationals in St. Vincent. T&T has no Permanent Mission or diplomatic staff on the island, but the Ministry is receiving updated information from NEMO authorities and from CDEMA via the CARICOM Secretariat.”
