Officers who responded to a fight along Independence Square South in Port-of-Spain on Monday morning ended up recovering a loaded gun in a vehicle after a brief chase.
According to a police report, at about 7 am officers from the Emergency Response Patrol including Cpl Moore, WPC Orr, PCs Murray, Pierre and Bramble were on mobile patrol when they received information from a passerby who claimed there was a fight on Independence Square South and the suspect was the driver of a red Elantra.
When the officers arrived on the scene, the suspect got into the car and sped off. The officers gave chase and intercepted the vehicle along Independence Square North. They found a pistol with five rounds of ammunition.
The suspect was subsequently arrested and taken to the Besson Police Station.
