Psycho-social support is being provided to the peers of the police officers who were involved in last night's shooting in Barrackpore.
President of the Police Service Social and Welfare Association (PSSWA), Gideon Dickson, describes the shooting as unfortunate.
He says while the investigation continues to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, there is a need for both the victim and the suspect to also receive counselling.
“I know from an association perspective, we would have already triggered a response, from our Central Committee reps, who would have gone to visit both parties,” he confirmed. “We also would have triggered a response with respect to the Social Service arm of the Police Service who also would be following up on the matter, and giving us feedback. However, we have not received that information as yet.”
An investigation into the incident continues.
