The house of a close working associate to acting Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith has been searched by investigating officers and it is alleged that files have been recovered and seized.
The associate, according to police sources, is to be questioned.
However, there was no confirmation of any arrest or detention.
Griffith is currently on vacation and out of the country and is expected to return Tuesday.
This latest development occurred on Sunday as the audit of the T&T Police Service (TTPS) Firearm Bureau continues.
Last week, one day after the audit began some police officers were already engaged in "mischief" as described by acting Commissioner of Police Mc Donald Jacob.
On Monday the TTPS issued a release stating that the TTPS is presently conducting an audit of its Firearms Bureau.
