Several arms of law enforcement including the army spent several hours in Laventille this morning in an anti-crime exercise hoping to flush out prison escapees Denbow Olatungi and Michael Findlay.
The police, including officers from the Port of Spain Task Force, Inter-Agency Task Force(IATF), Guard and Emergency Branch(GEB), searched homes in Eastern Quarry, Laventille, after receiving information.
The search has so far turned up empty handed but one senior police source said they were not giving up and they are "hot in the heels of these men."
Denbow and Findlay along with six other men escaped from the Golden Grove Remand Yard Prison in Arouca on May 15. The six other escapees were held within 24 hours of their escape.
Denbow and Findlay were among five arrested and charged for the February 2016 double murders of construction workers Andre La Touche and Abiola Noel.
Denbow, in an alleged statement released on social media after to last Wednesday’s prison break from the Golden Grove Remand Yard Prison, said he had been locked up three years due to an alleged, collaboration by corrupt police and a professional paid state witness.
A $50,000 reward is being offered by Crime Stoppers for information that would lead to the recapture of the two escapees who police have describedas armed and very dangerous.
A man well known to police was arrested at his One Woodbrook Place apartment in Woodbrook last night for allegedly aiding and abetting the two escapees. He remains in custody.
