A Cunupia man has appeared in court charged with two counts of fraud. Adesh Mano, 50, of Chin Chin Road, was charged with two counts of fraudulent conversion in the sum of $150,500.
He appeared in the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court via video conferencing on May 18th and was granted $300,000 bail. The matter was adjourned to Monday, July 20th 2020 and transferred to the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court.
According to police reports, the victim in the matter told police that during the period July 11th 2019 and July 19th 2019, he paid a man $115,000 which represented a down payment towards the purchase and importation of a motor vehicle valued at $230,000. The car was to be delivered by October 19th 2019. However, this never happened, and the victim never received a full refund of his money. The victim made a report to the Fraud Squad and investigations were launched into the matter. On Sunday May 17th 2020, an operation was conducted in the Central Division which resulted in Mano being arrested by a party of officers of the Fraud Squad Office, Port of Spain. He was charged with the offence on Monday May 18th 2020, by PC Ramkissoon.
