Minister of Communications Symon De Nobriga has denounced posts on social media that yesterday alleged that Prime Minister Dr Rowley was being investigated in the US for money laundering.
De Nobriga yesterday called the posts fake, “textbook misinformation” and a distraction. Some people on social media have linked the false accusations to the Prime Minister’s absence from the country.
In a Facebook post on the matter, however, De Nobriga defended the Prime Minister’s lengthy stay in Los Angeles by saying after he attended the Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles, he “extended his stay in the US to attend to his personal healthcare.”
De Nobriga declined to post screenshots of what he’d received, nor would he name the offenders beyond calling one “a known UNC operative.” However, he condemned the posts further by saying, “What we need to understand is the intention. It is to plant the seed of doubt and contention. Unfortunately, when they inevitably retract those words, they know the damage will [sic] have been done. This is not the way we operate as a nation.”
De Nobriga said the posts should be dismissed as mischief, bacchanal and the creation of doubt in authority. (See page 8)
