A 47-year-old man was found dead in a car in Arima on Wednesday (20 January 2021) night.
Police said preliminary investigations showed that the body bore no marks of violence. However, an autopsy is to be done at the Forensic Science Centre to determine the actual cause of death.
The body was identified as Daniel Boodhoo, of Lot #6 Harmony Drive, Maturita Trace Arima.
According to a police report, at about 3:30 pm, officers acted on information received and went to Lot 20 Eastern Main Road, Maturita Village, Arima, in the vicinity of HD Stationary Zone.
On arrival, the first responders observed a man slumped in the driver seat of a white Honda Accord. The man was of East Indian descent, medium built, brown in complexion, approximately five feet five inches tall, clad in a white t-shirt and blue three-quarter pants and wearing a pair of black shoes.
The scene was processed, and the officers recovered a red gas canister filled with a liquid believed to be gasoline.
Investigations are ongoing.
