A 21-year-old man is expected to appear before a Master of the High Court in a virtual hearing today, charged with attempted murder and firearm offences.
A statement from the Police Service says KEVON SAMUEL, 21, of Upper Richplain Road, Diego Martin, was charged by officers of the Western Division with attempted murder, possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of ammunition with intent to endanger life.
The charges were laid following extensive investigations into a report of attempted murder, which occurred in the Diego Martin district on September 1, 2024.
According to reports, a 31-year-old male victim was found with gunshot wounds to the body at Richplain Road, Diego Martin on September 1.
The victim subsequently was taken to hospital for treatment.
A male suspect was arrested following extensive investigations into the matter which were coordinated by Insp. Grant and supervised by Sgt. (Ag.) Huggins, Cpl Garcia, Cpl Benjamin and Cpl (Ag.) Morris—all of the West End/Maraval Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
Kevon Samuel was charged with the offences by PC Lewis, also of the West End CID.

Meanwhile, three male suspects were arrested by officers of the North Central Task Force (Area West) for firearm offences during an anti-crime exercise in the Tunapuna district, in the early hours of today.
Guardian Media understands the exercise was conducted between 1 am and 5 am on Thursday 10 October 2024, during which officers arrested three men ages 19 to 24 years, all of Enterprise, Chaguanas.
The men were held for possession of a Glock 19 pistol loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition. One of the suspects also faces charges of driving without a driver’s permit, driving without a certificate of insurance and using a vehicle without the owner’s consent.
Investigations are ongoing into the above matter.
