An El Socorro man was robbed of more than $30,000 in cash and valuables by three armed men who forced their way into his home on Wednesday.
The 36-year-old victim of Lootoo Street, El Socorro was home alone around 1 pm on August 10, when the three men – one of whom was armed with a custlass – entered and announced a robbery.
As the men began to planass the victim, he handed over TT $15,000 in cash; one gold bracelet valued TT $6,000; one gold IPhone XS cell phone valued TT $4,500; one IPhone 6s cell phone valued TT $1,500; and one gold chain valued TT $8,000.
The men later escaped on foot.
The victim contacted the police and sought medical attention at the El Socorro Health Centre.
Insp Ramsingh of the Barataria Police Station along with PC Salazar and others from the NED Crime Patrol Unit went to the Port of Spain Division where they intercepted a green Nissan Almera car – and following a search of the vehicle, they recovered the two stolen cell phones.
The 18-year-old driver of Nelson Street was arrested and the vehicle impounded.
Forensic personnel processed the car and were able to obtain nine workable fingerprint impressions as the suspect was said to be uncooperative with officers.
