Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley on Tuesday met with Chairman and CEO of EOG Resources William Thomas at EOG Resources Heritage Plaza in Houston, Texas.
A statement by the Office of the Prime Minister said that EOG updated Dr Rowley and his delegation on their exploration and production initiatives since the prime minister’s last meeting with EOG in Houston in 2017.
The energy company is executing an aggressive drilling programme which will continue with the drilling of a number of wells over the next year and beyond.
There was discussion surrounding the areas where EOG sees positive prospective in Trinidad and Tobago and the prime minister encouraged the company to continue speaking to the government about their future plans and opportunities for greater collaboration.
EOG is the largest oil producer and one of the top ten gas producers in the United States.
Their officials confirmed that Trinidad and Tobago remains an important investment in their portfolio.
The prime minister and the Trinidad and Tobago delegation will meet with BHP in Houston as well.
This is the final stop of the prime minister’s ten-day energy tour where he met with the executives and the senior technical personnel of the major oil and gas companies who do business in Trinidad and Tobago.
EOG's Vice President & General Manager, International James Woods, Executive Vice President, Exploration and Production Ezra Yacob and Managing Director, EOG Resources Trinidad Limited George Vieira, also attended the meeting.
Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, Franklin Khan, Minister of National Security, Communications and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Stuart Young, Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Allyson West and President of the National Gas Company Mark Loquan were also present at the meeting.
