Members of the public can now get their flu shots from health centres around the country, as well as select doctors’ offices, to ensure they are fully covered for the 2021/2022 flu season.
The Ministry of Health made the influenza (flu) vaccine available to the public at all health centres yesterday, Thursday 21st October. Flu shots will be available from the offices of sentinel physicians from Monday 25th October 2021.
According to the ministry, the vaccination programme for this flu season is especially important as this country continues to manage the national COVID-19 pandemic response. It also is reminding the public that both influenza and COVID-19 have similar symptoms.
The health ministry says persons who have not yet taken the COVID-19 vaccine may take the influenza (flu) vaccine as soon as possible. It advises that they wait at least two weeks after getting their flu shot before they take the COVID-19 vaccine.
The ministry also is advising that persons who have taken their final dose of a COVID-19 vaccine should wait at least two weeks before getting their flu shot.
The health ministry reminds the public that the final dose of a vaccine refers to the second dose of a two-dose regimen vaccine, or one dose of a single-dose regimen vaccine.
