Four persons were arrested on suspicion of being involved in gang related activities this morning, by officers of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT).
According to official police reports, at about 5:30am, SORT officers, with help from the Canine Branch, were conducting an anti-crime exercise conducted in the D’Abadie district. They were executing several search warrants were executed at different homes for illegal firearms and ammunition.
Police confirm that three male suspects, including an ex-member of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF), were arrested during the exercises and subsequently taken to the Maloney Police Station for questioning.
A fourth suspect, who sustained a minor injury to his arm during the exercise, was taken to the Arima district hospital for treatment.
A quantity of TTDF issued clothing was also seized during the exercise.
Investigations are ongoing.
