The Ministry of Community Development, Culture and the Arts will on Monday distribute around $2.4 million in Home Repair and Emergency Relief grants as well as Developmental Projects to families and communities throughout Trinidad.
A statement by the ministry says applicants will receive funding for the repair of their homes through a purchase order issued to a hardware supplier.
The ministry says the funding is available through the Minor Repair Reconstruction Grant (MRRG) and the Emergency Repair/Reconstruction Assistance Grant (ERRAG) ) Programme managed by the National Commission For Self Help Limited, an agency of the Ministry of Community Development, Culture and the Arts.
Also, a total of 12 communities will receive funding for varied projects such as roads, retaining walls and bridges.
The funding is aimed at providing basic relief for senior citizens, fire victims, natural disaster victims and low-income families throughout Trinidad.
The distribution takes place at the Mt. Hope Mt. Lambert Community Centre, Community Centre Drive, Mt. Lambert at 2 pm.
